On 21 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had an online conversation with the United States Ambassador to Lithuania Robert Gilchrist and discussed the situation in the region, important issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S., as well as international security policy issues.

On December 20, the Government of Lithuania has decided to suspend all passenger flights from the United Kingdom during an extraordinary meeting. The ban took effect on 21 December 04:00 and will last until 31 December 24:00.

The Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Foreign Ministers called on the German Presidency of the European Union to coordinate and make joint decisions on the situation with the United Kingdom, where a new variant of Covid may have been spreading.

On 18 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Spanish counterpart Arancha González Laya. The meeting focused on bilateral relations, regional security, the situation in Belarus, and key items on the European Union's agenda.

On 18 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attended a virtual meeting of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) Foreign Ministers. Ministers discussed the transatlantic link, the situation in Belarus, prospects for relations with the United Kingdom, as well as the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and a joint response to the  crisis, and other items on the agenda.

In response to the brutality of the Belarusian authorities and in support of the democratic rights of the Belarusian people, the EU on 17 December decided to impose the third round of sanctions over the ongoing repression.

On 17 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. The Foreign Ministers welcomed the intensifying ties between the two countries and agreed to further strengthen cooperation, especially in the areas of business, tourism, education and science, as well as the inter-institutional dialogue on economic development. 

On 17 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart  Nikos Dendias. Landsbergis welcomed the good relationship between Lithuania and Greece. In addition, both sides committed themselves to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

On 17 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde, and the Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, and discussed the COVID-19 situation in the region, important issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as support to democratic forces in Belarus.

On 17 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his German counterpart Heiko Maas. Landsbergis welcomed the fact that relations between Lithuania and Germany had been most intensive over the past few decades. Lithuania's Foreign Minister hopes to keep positive momentum going.
