Chicago Lithuanians sang “Tautiška giesmė” on the occasion of Lithuanian State Day
Lithuanian-Americans of Chicago area gathered at the Lithuanian World Center in Lemont to jointly sing National Anthem (“Tautiška giesmė“) on the occasion of Lithuanian State (Coronation of King Mindaugas) Day, celebrated on July 6th. This patriotic tradition started in 2009, when Lithuania celebrated Millennium Anniversary of its name, at that time Lithuanians everywhere in the world sang National Anthem simultaneously.
This year singing at the Lithuanian World Center was initiated by the Consulate General of Lithuania in Chicago and the Lemont Chapter of Lithuanian-American Community.
